YEAH!!! I am SO excited for you and HOLY COW I love that song!! I could listen to you site for a long time ;) Okay onto feedback! I would suggest weeding through your slideshow a couple of times, choose the 5-10 BEST of the BEST sharpest, best lit images and don't include duplicates be them just really similar or BW versions of the same thing. A slide show is just a sampling and should be quick because the average person spends about 10 seconds on that splash page. Make sure you start with the most off the hook image then go from there with the next best and so on. Your goal with that page is to draw them into reading the rest of your stuff so make it amazing, simple and short. You can put all the other favs in your portfolio tab. Love the wording and that you kept it short and sweet. Have you hooked your site up to google analytic yet? If not I'd suggest looking at that. It will tell you ALL kinds of info about whose visiting the site, where they're from, how long they stay on each page and what you bounce rate is (people who hop on and then off of your site). These things will help you build your online presence and increase a little thing called SEO (search engine optimization) which is a science in and of itself :) Watch your analytic for a while and then you can see the trend and adjust. GO KATE GO!! I am so happy I got to come see you, it filled my little tank ;) love ya!!
I did read this as soon as it was put up! But I'm just now responding, sorry. Thank you so so so so much! I love the song too, I listen to it quite often. I narrowed down my options and hopefully it flows and looks a little better. I cannot get google analytics unless I pay for it, so I am currently looking for a new website builder. If you know of any good ones let me know! I am so extremely happy I got to see you as well.. it made my whole week :) Love you tons
hmmm... google analytics should be free for anyone with a google account. Have you looked into showit sites? They have a free option that is pretty small and limited but it would work for you I think since you basically just need a portfolio and an about me section. I think you can do more if you want to. I made one then realized I needed more than what the free version offered and ended up just fancifying my blog. It was a really awesome program though and I would highly recommend trying it! here's the link to showit; http://showitfast.com/ and here is a J* article outlining more clearly what you can create with the free version; http://www.jasminestarblog.com/index.cfm?postID=617
nice job! I don't have any feedback because I don't know much about any of it ....but, I just have to say thank you to Ashley for always answering our questions and being so helpful :) hugs!!!
