Resizing Images

So in the midst of trying to get everything ready for baby I had a question asked that I can't quite get to right away and hope that you all would chime in, either in a comment or a new post, about how you resize your images both for clients (if you resize them at all for clients) and for other purposes such as web use and Facebook. I'm curious to know what you all do to and I hope to address this question from my side in the next couple weeks but should baby arrive I may not get to it! Thanks!!

  1. MCP Actions has a new facebook fix that re-sizes and sharpens...I like to use it :)

  2. The MCP Actions for FB is awesome! I have tried it and it is great. However, I am having problems with some 8x10's and smaller on several pictures that I have taken that people are wanting. When I resize to those sizes I am cutting off tops of heads or bottoms of feet. I am not sure if I can correct in PS or not. I am also not sure I should be doing something different when I take the shots so that I am not having so much difficulty when it comes time to edit. Thanks!! I hate having great shots that cannot be printed. When they are cut down they just do not have the same impact.

  3. Becca- you are talking about "Cropping" as opposed to resizing. Our cameras take the image in a 2:3 ratio (eg 4"x6", 8"x12", 11"x17", 12"x18") When you crop to "frame sizes" you are actually cutting off part of the image to get it to the 4:5 ratio (*x10, 5x7, 11x14) You need to not fill the frame so much, and give yourself a little wiggle room. :)

  4. Hi Becca! I totally hear you on that...I have been sending out info to my clients telling them that if they order something outside of the 4x6 ratio there will be cropping...so they have the option of ordering a size that won't be cropped.
there is something you can try to do in photoshop that I learned by watching a "framed" video that Kevin Kubota was in... http://www.framedshow.com/archives/2032
You will have to skip to about 18 minutes into the show where he starts talking about it...hope that helps!! :)
