expodisc?

Hey everyone...just curious if any one has and uses an expodisc?
I was watching Zach and Jody on Creativelive last week and they showed how they use their expodisc not only for whitebalance, but for proper exposure too.
I have tried using mine, but I never get that great of results. Just curious....

thanks!
Lisa

  1. nope, I've never heard of it! Gotta' go check it out and see what it is :) I prefer just getting practice for both the exposure and white balance. White balance I've never had much trouble with because I just use auto and correct in RAW if need be. Exposure is so circumstantial that I prefer to just use experience and practice, lots of practice. You do amazing on both!! I've REALLY loved your stuff lately!!

  2. awe...thanks Ashley!! It was just interesting to me because they put the disc on their lens, pointed it toward their main light and then had their in camera meter read "0" and they said it would be perfect exposure...but so far I am not getting it to work for me. Also, I always feel that I am tweaking and tweaking my white balance, so I thought this might be a way to avoid that a little more. I don't even think they edit much in Lightroom (and they don't even use photoshop!) after they are done with their images because they are near perfect in camera...I think that is pretty cool :)

Hey- if anyone wants to pray for me I would much appreciate it...I am really needing to amp up our income because I need to send our little sweet pea to school (she is not ready for an all-day-every-day kindergarten that they have for our school district). So I am looking for alternatives...my dream would be to send her to a Christian school, but the cost is high.
I am thinking about putting it out there that I could do editing services for other photographers...I am in the brainstorming process right now, so I would love prayers :)

  3. I have not heard of it either not that should come as a surprise as I am still learning most of this. However, I would love to learn techniques that would enable me to do very little post editing. I have PS but would rather not use it.. I am still learning it and it is fun but I would rather just take pictures and print.. LOL I know there are times when I will get requests to change or to mimic a certain style so it will come in handy but prefer to have near perfect in camera shots.

I will continue to pray for you. You have been on my list since your last request and now I will add more.
